We’re celebrating our 6-month anniversary!
The past six months have been an adventure in the best of ways. As with all great adventures, you can not start one without friends.
We’re so grateful to Jeff Schiere, Eduardo Ortiz, Ehsaan Ali, and Don Simpson for allowing us to work on their impactful projects. All this happened months earlier than we anticipated. We had to scramble to get all the back office operational pieces in place as we signed our first contract with The Mo Studio. That was an exciting few days.
We’re thrilled to be contributing to simplifying the online experience for Veterans, planning how to modernize the system that calculates and pays all Medicare claims, and developing a new retirement calculator for retiring federal employees.
All this work has meant that we’ve hired our first two full-time employees! Everyone says your first ten employees will define who you are. With our first hires, we already know we will have a warm and inviting culture.
We’ve been talking about wok hei in #cooking and listening to Brad Mehldau because of #music. We’re on our way to building a great Slack culture. We even added our first custom emoji last week.
To say everything is perfect is untrue and unkind to ourselves. There has been anxiety, frustration, and self-doubt on this journey. We can not easily describe the feelings you have in the moment you realize that the perfect candidate has decided to decline. Or when work you were expecting to have does not come through. Sometimes you forget to breathe.
But breathe we shall. There’s impactful work to be done. And the day-to-day that keeps us going on the mission — new employees to onboard, branding decisions to make, operations to build. Our values are the rock we are built upon. While those will not change, we know when we reflect again in another 6 months, that we’ll be a completely different company than we are today.
With both feet on the ground, forward we go. We hope you’ll join us on our adventure.
